EtonHouse is welcoming a new school into its family – Islander Pre-School. This spacious centre located on Sentosa Island is tucked away in a serene environment amidst lush greenery overseeing the Sentosa Golf course.
Offering an inquiry-based programme for children from 18 months to 6 years old, the campus is intentionally set up with children’s holistic development in mind. The rooms are arranged according to various activity areas, including blocks, dramatic play, art, science, computer and language.
The curriculum is carefully planned to meet the needs of children, taking into consideration their age groups, interests and developmental levels. Within their daily schedule, children will enjoy countless planned and spontaneous educational experiences, and they will be encouraged to learn through play, both outdoors and indoors. They will engage in hands-on learning activities and also work in small groups, allowing the teachers to give individualized attention and develop the potential of each child. To help children develop a strong bilingual foundation, English and Chinese teachers will be in the classes throughout the day and expose them to both languages.
The teachers in Islander Pre-School have an educational background in early childhood development, and are encouraged to receive continual professional development through reading professional literature, conferences, workshops, dialogue with other early childhood educators.
Islander Pre-School offers a quality childcare programme that recognizes the importance of parental involvement. Parents would be kept updated on the progress of their children through emails, newsletters and personalized portfolios. Parent-teacher conferences happens every six months, but parents are welcome to arrange meetings and discussions with the teachers during the school term. There is a strong belief in ongoing collaboration to facilitate the continuity of experiences for each child so as to enhance the potential of meeting each child’s needs.
