Tina Stephenson EtonHouse Principal

Welcome to EtonHouse Newton Campus -- the first Pre-School in Singapore to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Our dynamic learning community was founded over 20 years ago to provide excellence in early years education to local families and the international community -- all sharing a home here in Newton.

I am very proud to be here at EtonHouse Newton, a school with a long tradition, and a warm and caring family-based community representing more than 30 nationalities.

We are proud of our students and all that they achieve; they are at the heart of our community. EtonHouse Newton students are eager to learn, embrace opportunity, take pleasure in their own success and that of others, are caring of each other and in the wider community, compassionate, and proud of their school and all that it embodies.

Our beautiful colonial heritage building provides modern facilities and generous resources. Student learning is supported across the school by enthusiastic and committed teachers, small classes, low student-teacher ratios and of course everyone’s favorite, our generous outdoor play space. Our environment, parent community and educators work hand-in-hand to ensure that each of our students understands that they are valued and secure within our community -- together creating a shared place where our children enjoy coming to school every day. Our community is one where many siblings are here together and where parents play a vital role in their child’s education partnership.

I am a proud parent myself and so I truly enjoy talking to parents every day, sharing hopes and expectations for their child. I love standing at the school gate every morning greeting our smiling children as they burst into the school -- so full of energy and enthusiasm. When I look around at our wonderful community here at Newton, I truly feel that the 15 years I have been working Early Years International Education leadership were all leading me to this school. My career in Asia began in Hong Kong in 2002 as the Principal of the faculty kindergarten at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. For the last 10 years, I have been an active contributor to popular and academic publications, in Canada and Asia, on a range of behavioral and education issues. Most recently, I have worked as Senior Lecturer for Middlesex University London and Open University Hong Kong in teacher qualification granting programmes including their Honours B.A. in Early Childhood Studies – the only bachelor’s degree in education from a foreign institution fully-accredited in Hong Kong. I am a member of the Ontario College of Teachers in Canada and The National College of Teaching and Leadership in the UK.

Whether you are visiting our website as a parent or potential colleague, we welcome you to come and meet us in person, and hope you will someday become a part of the many education journeys enjoyed at EtonHouse Newton everyday of the year.
