Our curriculum focuses on developing a healthy self concept and nurturing children's self esteem through respectful interactions which aim to build trusting relationships.
Our learning environment is carefully designed to cultivate children’s sense of security and confidence in their daily exploration, investigation, thinking and problem solving skills, sense of curiosity and wonder of the world around them.
Through ongoing observation and documentation of children’s strengths, ideas and interests, our qualified early childhood staffs are able to plan learning experiences which promote:
- creativity and divergent thinking as they paint, draw and engage in pretend play;
- physical co-ordination as they climb, balance and move their bodies to music;
- observation and thinking skills as children are supported in noticing events and changes in their environment;
- vocabulary development through interactions with peers and adults and the use of song, rhythm, rhyme and stories;
- exploration as children experience nature through gardening, digging in the sand pit and working with natural materials; and
- consolidation of early mathematics and science concepts as they sort, stock, match and sequence puzzles and manipulative equipment.
At 717 we also have an integrated Mandarin program whereby our English and Mandarin staff work in collaboration to support children’s language development.
