Roehampton University and EtonHouse Education Centre present Masters and Bachelor programmes in Early Childhood-Next intake in September 2009.

BA(Hons) in Early Childhood Education-12 months

Entry requirements
Diploma in Preschool Education-Teaching and Diploma in Pre-school Education-Leadership and IELTS 6 or equivalent

Duration: 1 year, part-time

Course Outline

  • Early Years Curriculum: 20 credits; Assessment: Portfolio and essay
  • Dissertation: 40 credits
  • Early childhood practicum placement: 20 credits; Assessment: Portfolio and report from placement provider
  • Inclusive Education: 20 credits; Assessment: Poster presentation and essay
  • Professionalism and Advocacy: 20 credits; Assessment: Analysis of an interview and two short essays


Each term comprises of around 8 intensive contact teaching sessions (30 hours) held in the evenings or on Saturdays except for dissertation and early childhood placement. Each term comprises of 3 months. The sessions are delivered by Roehampton University faculty members.

Master of Arts in Education (Early Childhood)

Entry requirements:
Bachelor Degree in the Social Sciences and IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

Bachelor Degree in any other discipline and an interest in early childhood and IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

Duration: 2 years part-time


Course Outline

  • Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) Portfolio - 40 credits
    Assessment: Portfolio
  • Research Methodology – 40 credits
    Assessment: Critical review and research proposal
  • Play, Representation & Communication - 20 credits
    Assessment: Two analytic commentaries
  • Critical Reflections on Early Childhood - 20 credits
    Assessment: Essay
  • Dissertation – 60 credits
