EtonHouse Education Centre (EEC)
The EtonHouse Education Centre (EEC) is the in-house research and professional development centre of the EtonHouse International Education Group (EH). The EEC was first established in 2005 to establish career pathways through accredited training in early childhood qualifications at Diploma, Specialist Diploma and Diploma in Leadership level to both EH staff and other students. All courses were accredited by the Singaporean PQAC (Professional Qualification’s Accreditation Committee; a joint MOE/MCYS government body). Our graduates, many of whom work in EH pre-schools both in Singapore and China, are confident and professional teachers who are well equipped to teach children of the 21st century.

The EEC no longer offers the Diploma programmes. It focuses on providing a range of high quality international conferences to the wider early childhood community in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region.
The next EEC conference will be held in Singapore, 26-28 April 2012. With speakers directly from Reggio Emilia in Italy, this conference will attract over 400 delegates from the early childhood profession. For more details, please download the programme and registration information.
In 2010, the EEC in conjunction with AECES (Association of Early Childhood Educators, Singapore) brought the first Reggio Children conference to the Asia Pacific region. Titled The Reggio Emilia Approach to Education – Experiences in Dialogue, the conference was well attended by over 400 participants from 10 different countries across the Asia Pacific region, including Australia and New Zealand. The second conference, a Master’s class in the (visual) arts was convened in October 2010.

In addition the EEC provides ongoing in-service or professional development to the EtonHouse preschools and International schools in Singapore; as well as EtonHouse settings in China; Malaysia and Japan. This ongoing support aims to build consistency across settings in terms of curriculum delivery and design. The mentor role provided through the EEC aims to support individual teachers as they develop skills as practitioners and teacher researchers. Leadership retreats for EtonHouse the senior management team have also been organized by the EEC over the past few years.
Staff at the EEC have been instrumental in establishing new EtonHouse settings; having input into building and playground design at construction stage right through to the equipping of classrooms. In 2010, the EEC assisted to establish three new pre-schools including EtonHouse at 718 Mountbatten Road in Singapore.
New Directions:
In December 2010, the EEC moved to its new premise at 718 Mountbatten Road. It is our intention to strengthen the provision of professional development to both EtonHouse preschools and the early childhood community in general.
